I’ve always been a dog person. And a dog owner. Being a dog mom has been such a rewarding experience; there’s nothing like having a relationship, even though it’s with an animal, where you love unconditionally and that love is always reciprocated back to you. They say Dog is God spelled backwards, and that, I have found, is definitely true. All of us dog owners can attest to this fact.
As such, we love to spoil our pups every chance we get. Whether it’s treats or toys, we’re always looking show our bff some love. This also includes outfitting them in the cutest threads. Our dogs, like everything else, have become yet another avenue for self expression.
I’ve always accessorized my dogs. My sweet Maltipoo Bella often sported bows behind her ears and a variety of sweaters of the pink persuasion. Winston, my Yorkie, on the other hand, repped more masculine attire - a red jacket or heathered blue sweater with little professor style arm patches. They have both unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge, but have left permanent paw prints on my heart.
My new puppy is a sweetheart. But she runs hot, so sweaters and jackets don’t work well for her. And because she’s a poodle mix, I can’t gather the fur behind her ears for pigtail bows. So I accessorize her in the most canine of ways - with her collar.
I named her Elsa, because their hair/fur is literally the exact same color. Her spunky nature reminds me often that I made the right choice in name selection. So, “for the first time in fur ever,” I outfitted my dog in literal attire. I got her a Frozen themed collar, with various pictures of Elsa on it. It has a wide band, which allows Elsa and the beautiful background colors to show up vividly. It’s feminine, adorable, and shows everyone exactly who she is. Not to mention it’s sturdy construction, it’s proven to be the perfect accessory for my sweetie. In the world of puppy fashion, the sidewalk is Elsa’s runway, and she slays every time she walks it.
